About This Performance

Renowned cellist Colin Carr returns to PCMS for a recital with pianist Thomas Sauer, a highly sought-after soloist and chamber musician. In a wonderfully crafted program of pieces rarely (if ever) heard on our series, Carr and Sauer pair solo and duo works by two British composers. Of particular note is Thomas Adès’s Lieux retrouvés, a characteristically thrilling tour de force in which the writing for the cello reaches uncharted levels of virtuosity.

Britten: Cello Sonata in C Major, Op. 65
Adès: Traced Overhead for Solo Piano
Britten: Suite No. 3 for Solo Cello
Adès: Lieux retrouvés
